Ballarat Frolic Festival is a volunteer run, not-for-profit organisation. Accessibility is important in all of our work - including financially accessibility.

Knowing ticket prices can be a barrier to attending events for some in our community, we’re proud to be announcing a new Pay It Forward ticket option to help break down these barriers. Everyone deserves to celebrate PRIDE.

When organising our festival we include multiple free events and set our paid event ticket prices at the lowest price possible to just recover our costs. This can be a gamble if we don’t sell out but we think it’s worth taking as we’re not interested in profit gouging our own community. This is why events that would cost $45-50 normally at other festivals can be accessed for only $25-30 at ours.

Pay It Forward

Want to support the local LGBTIQA+ community? Buy a Pay It Forward ticket. This new ticketing option is on every paid event run by us and is there to help us remove financial barriers to events for financially disadvantaged people within our community. Pay It Forward tickets are not available on partner events.

What’s a Pay It Forward ticket and how does it work? Pay It Forward tickets are provided by the festival in a kind and respectful manner to local financially disadvantaged community members who would not be able to attend the event without financial support. By purchasing this ticket type you are agreeing to gift this ticket to a community member. Please note: we cannot share the name of the person who will receive this gift but your gift will be greatly appreciated.

Do you work for a supportive organisation who would be happy to buy some tickets? Pay It Forward tickets are also a great way that organisations can help support Ballarat Frolic Festival and our local LGBTIQA+ community. Ask them to show they care by booking some Pay It Forward tickets today.

Need a helping hand and financial barrier removed to attend? We can help. There's no shame is asking for help and we'll always do our best to do so. So if you are unable to attend the festival due to financial reasons (ie. long term unemployed), please email bookings@frolicfestival.org with the subject line Pay It Forward Ticket List and we will add you to the list. Please ensure you mention what event you’d like to attend plus provide your name, postcode, telephone number, and a little bit about yourself and your connection to Ballarat so we can contact you in the event a ticket becomes available.
