Ballarat is Victoria’s largest inland city with a population of 115,818 (and growing fast!).

Ballarat has a reputation best summed up in three words - old, cold and gold. Many people cite their visit to Sovereign Hill in primary school as the only time they’ve visited Ballarat. But there’s much more to Ballarat than that.

Ballarat is an upcoming and coming melting pot of art, culture, food, wine, and attractions set against an iconic gold rush heritage backdrop. Ballarat is a central part of our festival and we love to show it off!

We’re proud of our local community - both the wider Ballarat community and the local LGBTIQA+ community which is out, proud, and very accepted by the wider community.
